Week 20

It was another short, but busy week!

This week we learned about Ruby Bridges and added her to our biography journal! They loved learning about such an important first grader :)

In math, we continued our work with fact families (3 numbers that can make 2 addition and 2 subtraction number sentences). The first graders made lots of fact family triangles and had a chance to make up their own story problems about their fact families! Practicing and identifying these fact families will help build the connection between addition and subtraction and help support fact fluency!

We are working on organizing our opinion writing and using a graphic organizer to help us develop our complete sentences.

Report cards will be sent home February 6th. In regards to the report cards, I want to reiterate that first grade has some of the biggest academic and developmental jumps of any grade. I have seen tremendous growth from the first graders and and am excited for the progress to continue! If you have any questions about grades feel free to email me or set up a time to meet.

Reminder:

2/6: Spirit Day -- Dress as a real life hero
